Type locality The holotype or syntypes of Distylidia monroi Hartman, 1961 are Monro's (1933) specimens from Balboa and Coiba Island, Panama he identified as Bispira rugosa var monterea, but Hartman later placed as a new species [details]

Nomenclature A new species Distylidia monroi based on the occurrence recorded by Monro as Bispira rugosa monterea Monro (1933) (q.v). The holotype or syntypes will be Monro's specimens he identified as Bispira rugosa monterea. Hartman maintains he misidentified his specimens, but it is not clear if she was able to view them herself (she does not say), as the specimens are in the British Museum and Knight-Jones and Perkins 1998) examined them and designated a lectotype from them for Hartman's Distylidia monroi (now Bispira monroi). The holotype or syntypes will be Monro's specimens he identified as Bispira rugosa monterea.
