Neotype A neotype is designated for Paleanotus purpurea Rioja, 1947 by Cruz-Gómez, (2021), from a location near to the original type locality. The original type locality apparently does not exist unmodified (infilled?) The specimen is ECOSUR-265, El Caimancito Beach, La Paz Bay, Baja California Sur, México. No coordinates are given for the location, but estimated coordinates are 24.2058, -110.3000. ECOSUR is "Collection of Laboratorio de Poliquetos (ECOSUR), Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico [details]

Spelling The genus is masculine so the spelling should have been 'purpureus' and not 'purpurea' although it is inconsequential now that the species has been recombined to a feminine genus (Bhawatsonia) [details]
