Etymology The specific epithet sexoculata derives from the combination of the Latin root sex, meaning 'six', and the Latin word oculatus, meaning 'having eyes', and refers to the presence of 3 pairs of eyes on each side of the prostomium: one pair of dark brown eyes on the posterior corners of the prostomium, and two other pairs located ventrolaterally, at the bases of the palps and barely visible dorsally, only through transparence.
