Status in discussion of P. iranica (nsp) Bonyadi-Naeini et al (2018) maintain that P. camiguina is distinct from P. helleri, disagreeing with Fauvel (1932) and Hutchings et al (1991) who synonymized it with P. helleri (described in the same work by Grube) . Also that "Since P. camiguina lacks bars in area VI it cannot be a member of Perinereis as currently conceived" and "until type specimens can be re-examined, we recommend that Perinereis camiguina be regarded as Nereidinae incertae sedis." [details]
