Type locality Station 214 south-east of the Philippines, on host Pentacrinus alternicirrus. Graff (1884) writes: "Host Pentacrinus alternicirrus, P. H. C., from Station 214 south-east of the Philippine Isles of the Challenger Expedition. There were fourteen specimens of Pentacrinus dredged at this Station, some of which were inhabited by several, some by many, specimens of Myzostoma pentacrini, and had the arms enlarged." [details]

Taxonomy With little supporting information or explanation Perrier (1897: 1633), in a classification in Traite de zoologie created tribe Endomyzostominae and genus Endomyzostoma for recombined prior species Myzostoma pentacrini Graff. In a modern assessment Summers et al. (2014:305) in their comments on Endomyzostoma scotia briefly overview the species they currently believe are in Endomyzostoma. There are seven species from stalked crinoids and seven from feather star crinoids. [details]
