Etymology The subspecific epithet postcirrata (masculine: postcirratus) is a New Latin adjective meaning 'after the cirri', and refers to the position of the occipital tentacle on the prostomium, placed behind the first pair of parapodia: ''in der Variation postcirrata [the occipital tentacle] immer weit hinter den 1. Parapodien inseriert'' (Hartmann-Schröder, 1965: 207). The subspecific epithet is composed by the Latin prefix post-, meaning 'after' or 'behind', and the Latin adjective cirrata (masculine: cirratus), meaning 'having cirri'. [details]
