From editor or global species database
Spelling Grube (1870) used the spelling 'haemasoma'. Fauvel (1902) also misspelled 'haemasona' as 'haemasoma' in a synonymy for Marphysa sanguinea. Fauvel (1927: 408) repeats the misspelling. However, the Hartman Catalogue (1959) uses M. haemasona. Perhaps Quatrefages should have used the expected spelling 'haemasoma' (perhaps meaning 'blood-red body') but he defininitely did not use that spelling as three times the spelling by Quatrefages is as 'haemasona' [details]Unreviewed
