The specific epithet glauca is a Latin adjective derived from the Ancient Greek, meaning 'greyish' and designating a dull greyish-green or blue colour, and refers presumably to the described colouration of the species: "antrorsum glauco-viridis [...] Cette petite Leptonéréide présente le plus souvent dans sa région antérieure une teinte d'un vert glauque pâle, tirant sur le bleuâtre. J'ai cependant eu entre les mains un individu de couleur un peu bronzée. Cette coloration des premiers segments est due à un pigment diffus, formé de très-petits granules disséminés dans l'hypoderme (Claparède, 1870: 454-455).
