Editor's comment Hartman (1959: 163) named "Paranereis abiuma" (correctly Lycastis abiuma) as type species of her new genus Namalycastis. However, it seems clear that the "Paranereis" mentioned by Grube was only for Grube a potential new genus name mentioned by the specimen collector, Fritz Mü1ler, that he (Grube) did not think was justified to be named. There is no indication that Grube knew a Paranereis Kinberg, 1866 already existed (whether Fritz Mü1ler knew it existed is impossible to say) Therefore the introduction of the history of Kinberg's (indeterminable) genus into later taxonomic accounts of Lycastis abiuma Grube seems unnecessary [G.
