Taxonomy McIntosh 1898 maintained that S. buskii was separate from S. squamatum (his error for 'squamosum'). Fauvel (1923: 104)...
Taxonomy McIntosh 1898 maintained that S. buskii was separate from S. squamatum (his error for 'squamosum'). Fauvel (1923: 104) included S. buski under S. squamatum (again a misspelling). Hartman in the catalogue supplement writes "see Sthenolepis tetragona, not Sigalion squamatum", having earlier (1959: 119) referred Sigalion buskii to Sigalion squamatum [sic, S. squamosum delle Chiaje was meant". Muir states the type could not be found but nevertheless synonymizes S. buskii to S. squamosum. According to Aungtonya & Eibye-Jacobsen (2014: the 'squamatum' misspelling arose from Claparede, 1868. Those authors retain the earlier synonymy of Sigalion buskii to Sigalion squamosum, evidently relying on earlier authors rather than making their own assessment for their checklist. Likewise Muir & Chambers (1990) give no details for their continuation of the synonymy [details]
