Additional characters for the genus Cratenemertes Friedrich, 1955, description and figures of a new species of the monostiliferous nemertean C. pelagicus Korotkevitsch belonging to the family Amphiporidae McIntosh, 1874, are given herein. This species was found by K. Beklemishev and by the author during the II Soviet Antarctic Expedition in the plankton of the Indian Ocean in 1957. The main characters of this species are as follows: interwoven fibers of the musculature of proboscis sheath, separated mouth and proboscis pore, cerebral sense organs behind the brain, two pouches with 10 reserved stylets in each, 13 proboscidial nerves; intestinal caecum, ocelli, cephalic gland and nephridial system absent. Some other characters are also given in the paper.
