Taxonomy Augener is uncertain if the specimen he describes and calls Lepidonotus yorkianus is the same specimen previously named Polynoe contaminata by Grube (1876). Hartman catalogue (1959: 100) places Polynoe contaminata as "questionably Lepidonotus yorkianus" but this is not possible as P. contaminata is the senior name. [details]
