Synonymy Augener (1933) considered Gnatholycastis brocki Ehlers, 1920 to be a junior synonym of Nereis (Lycoris) quatrefagesi Grube, 1878. This is rejected here because there are obvious differences between the two taxa as described including the lengths of the superior tentacular cirri and parapodial dorsal cirri, and in the form of the jaws. [details]
