Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet aviculiseta is composed by the Latin noun avicula, meaning 'small bird', and the Latin noun seta, meaning 'bristle' or 'hair', and refers presumably to the two beaklike teeth present on the shaft of the composed chaetae: "Setae pale, composite; shaft with slightly thickened articulating end, with numerous fine hairs and 2 beaklike teeth" (Hartman, 1936: 122). [details]
Habitat On pilons of piers, bottoms covered with Chaetopterus tubes, and among Macrocystis pyrifera holdfasts, at shallow water (6-27 m). [details]
Synonymy Pleijel et al (2012:4) maintain Californian Eulalia aviculiseta as valid while acknowledging that Banse's synonymy of it to Washington E. quadrioculata Moore, 1906 needs further examination ("... not able to state if this is correct or not, but the two seem to be at least very closely related") [details]
