Taxonomy As to Stellicola caeruleus (Stebbing, 1900), it is a valid species. In the original description this species was called “Lichomolgus caeruleus” by Stebbing (1900: 664). Later, Stock (1957: 382) correctly renamed it Stellicola caeruleus (Stebbing, 1900). The confusion of these two species is due to Monod & Dollfus’ (1932: 142) mistake in equating Kossmann’s Stellicola semperi to Stebbing’s (1900: 664) Lichomolgus caeruleus. (pers. comm. J.S. Ho) [details]
