Taxonomy This is a replacement name for Little's (1963) Halicometes stellata, transferred to Timea by Hechtel, 1969 by which it became preoccupied by Timea stellata (Bowerbank, 1866). Technically, this is not a case of homonymy, because the original identification of Little was a misidentification as Halicometes stellata (Schmidt, 1870, as Cometes stellata) and as such it does not have a type specimen indicated. Lehnert & Heimler, 2001 did not give a nomen novum, but in fact erected a new species, but failed to elect Little's specimen as type. [details]
