Taxonomy After the publication by Micali & Scuderi (2007) it was realized that "Bulla" algirae Adams in Sowerby, 1850 [type locality: Algiers, Algeria] is an earlier name for Doridium seurati Vayssière, 1926, unambiguously identified by a good figure accompanying the original description (vol. 2 p. 598; pl. 121 fig. 55 ). After consulting with the abovementioned authors the name was promoted as valid in the database, this not being published elsewhere so far.
The species has been listed as Smaragdinella algirae following Adams & Adams (1854: vol. 2 p. 23), but Smaragdinella (a tropical genus of the family Haminoeidae) has never been found in the Mediterranean.  [details]
