Classification The genus was ignored in the Systema Porifera (Van Soest, 2002: Hymedesmiidae chapter), and subsequently referred to Hymedesmia until recently. Pulitzer-Finali (1983) used it for his H.rectirhaphis. Having two Hymedesmia-like species with raphides, is sufficient support for maintaining it as distinct.. [details]
