Identification Zibrowius (1971: 718,724) elected not to identify H. pectinata with certainty with H. norvegica or the subsequent name, H. elegans ("L'appartenance du Eupomatus pectinatus Philippi, 1844" soit à H. norvegica Gunnerus, soit à H. elegans (Haswell), reste incertaine.") The name H. pectinata is largely disused taxonomically. [details]Nomenclature Hydroides pectinata has a number of usages in the 1900s, notably Iroso (1921, taxomomy) and Harms (1912, biology), and later citations of Harms' article, and therefore cannot be a nomen oblitum. Type specimen Some of the Mediterranean mollusc material of Philippi exists, but nothing appears to be known of the serpulids. Iroso (1921) and Zibrowius have no comments. [details]
