A new ingolfiellid amphipod, Ingolfiella ogasawarensis n. sp. is described from shallow water
off the Ogasawara Islands, southern Japan. The new species differs from its congeners primarily by
having a moderately thick body; pereionites 2-7, pleonites 1-3, and urosomites 1-3 each bearing a
pair of dorsal setae; a broad dorsal crest on the basis of gnathopod 1; 6 minute teeth, 1 long stout
palmar angle spine, 1 short stout seta, and 8 slender simple setae on the ventral margin of the carpus
of gnathopod 2; propodi of pereiopods 3 and 4 longer than the carpi; uropod 1 shorter than uropod
2; and the first spine on the inner ramus of uropod 1 larger than the following three spines.
