Editor's comment According to Monro (1930: 213), this taxon agrees with the common S. dysteri, except in the collar chaetae, which do not show the typical gap. Monro's description is lacking detail. Although it cannot be excluded that a temperate/subtropical taxon as Salmacina dysteri (Huxley, 1855) would occur in the Falklands, on biogeographical grounds it is very unlikely. Still mentioned under a subspecific status by Nogueira & ten Hove (2000), it is synonymised with the nominal species here, which should be restudied.
