The ostracodes of several samples from the Plio-Pleistocene of Sangiran, Jawa, are identified and illustrated. The genera Indocythere (type species Indocythere javana n. sp.) and Ishizakiella (type species Ishizakiella foveoreticulata n. sp.), also Hemicytheridea sangiranae n. sp., are described as new.
The assemblages indicate alternating marine, brackish and even fresh-water environments of deposition, and may prove useful for determining more precisely the local Pleistocene-Pliocene boundary.
