Nach der Veröffentlichung meiner Neuseeländischen Anneliden erhielt ich von Herrn W.B. Benham in Dunedin N.Z. eine von ihm zusammengebrachte Sammlung dortiger mariner Polychaeten mit der Bitte, sie zu bearbeiten. Begleitet war die Sendung von einer Anzahl von Bemerkungen über die Benennung und Synonymie der Thiere und von Angaben über deren Fundorte sowie über Färbung und Zeichnung und Verhalten der lebenden Würmer. [After the publication of my New Zealand Annelids, I received from Mr. W.B. Benham in Dunedin N.Z. a collection of local marine polychaetes brought together by him with a request to edit them. The collection was accompanied by a number of observations on the naming and synonymy of the animals and their location, as well as the coloring and drawing and behavior of the living worms.]
