A list of the species of the genus Ho/olepidella is given with comments on
valid and invalid species. Hololepidella alba n. sp., a commensal species on
Acanthaster planci is described, followed by a key to the valid species.
Within the frame of the course "Systematics and Ecology of Marine Invertebrates"
conducted at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City, in 1980, a
hitherto unknown polychaete species was collected from Acanthaster planci.
Additional material of intact specimens was collected by Ruby M. Rosito off the
USC Marine Biological Station in March 1981 .
