A new genus Pseudophelia is described. The main characteristic is the lack of branchiae. This is the only difference to the genus Ophelia. The newly described species Pseudophelia translucens is characterized by the lack of branchiae, by nucal organs and the form of the posterior part of the body. There are two big midventral papillae and 6 to 9 smaller ones surrounding the anus. Length 4,5 to 5 mm = ca. 28 setigers. Type locality: Adriatic Sea, near Zlarin Island in 20 to 40 meters depths.
