Depuis 1892, j'ai récolté, tant à Wimereux (Pas-de-Calais) qu'au cap de la Hague (Manche), un grand nombre d'espèces de la famille des Spionidiens.
Je me suis vite convaincu de ce fait, déjà signalé par plusieurs zoologistes, qu'une révision des genres de cette famille était nécessaire.
Avant de commencer la description des espèces étudiées, je vais exposer brièvement comment je conçois les différents genres de Spionidiens et leurs rapports entre eux. C'est une œuvre que je sais à l'avance imparfaite; mais j'espère qu'elle pourra être de quelque utilité à ceux qui s'occupent de systématique, et les travaux ultérieurs permettront de la corriger.
