Iagttagelserne ere anstillede imellem den 60—61½º N. B. paa flere langt fra hverandre liggende Steder, nemlig 1) Bergens Fjord, en temmelig af Land indelukket Fjord; 2) Glæsvær, 3 norske Mile sydvest for Bergen tæt ved Havet, Grunden deromkring mest sandig og dyndet; 3) Solsvig, 1½ n. Miil vest for Bergen, steile i Havet styrtende Klipper , Bunden klippefuld; endelig 4) Floröen, 12 n. Mile nordlig for Bergen, meget udsat for Havets Indvirkuing.
Uagtet jeg just ikke er nogen Ynder af det moderne evindelige Slægtmagerie, saa har jeg dog i nærværende Værk været nödt til at danne flere nye Slægter, naat jeg fandt Dyr, som væsentlig afvege fra de tilforn bekjendte Former.
Ved godhedsfuld Understöttelse af det Kongl. Norske Videnskabers Selskab har jeg seet mig istand til at oplyse Beskrivelserne ved medfölgende Plancher.
