Lepidonotus robustus Moore, 1905, the pharynx of which has 11ot been hitherto inve
stigated, was found to possess 30 pairs of oral papillae. The papillae have numerous
(up to 20) additional processes on the jnnet side (figs.). Up to now, such unusual papil
lae have not been reported from polynoids. On this basis a new genus was erected,.
H ermilepidonotus gen. n. A diagnosis of the genus and a detailed description of the spe
cies on the basis of over 250 specimens from the Sea of Japan, Okhotsk and Bering Sea,
are given.
