The orbiniid polychaete Scoloplos simplex (Hutchings, 1974) from Australia is redescribed and compared to Scoloplos fragilis (Verrill, 1873) from the east coast of North America. The genera Scoloplos Blainville, Haploscoloplos Monro and Leitoscoloplos Day are discussed.
