Taxonomy Jorgensen (1905) established the new monotypic genus Campylacantha to include the new species C. cladophora. whose skeleton bears many similarities to that of N. distephanus. as has been described in the Evolution section. Loeblich and Tappen (1961) recognized that Campylacantha is a junior objective homonym, and they replaced it with Deflandrella. Although both Neosemantis and Deflandrella were retained in the classification of Petrushevskaya (1971b), she concluded that these genera might be more appropriately combined [details]
