A total of seven species of spionid polychaetes including one new species Dipolydora huelma were found from Puerto Montt and Chiloe Island (Chile). Polydora cf. rickettsi, Dipolydora huelma sp. nov. and D. giardi were extracted from self-excavated burrows in calcareous substrata: mollusc shells and coralline alga. Dipolydora socialis, Boccardia wellingtonensis, B. chilensis and B. tricuspa were found from mud, sand and sandstone intertidal flats. Boccardia wellingtonensis was re-examined, and Chilean specimens of B. polybranchia were re-examined and suggested that they may belong to B. wellingtonensis. Morphological variation, habitat, boring and crawling activity, ecology, reproduction and development, and burrow structure of each species is described and discussed.
