Validity The validity of this taxon remains to be confirmed. Lorenz (2002) says: An unusual population was recently discovered in 40-100 m offshore Venezuela. The pyriform, inflated shells have distinct and coarse columellar teeth, spoon-shaped anterior flanges, and no columellar blotch. Petuch identified them as tristensis (pers. comm. 2001), but this is doubtful: that name was based on pale shells claimed to originate in Columbia [Colombia]" [details]
