Etymology Authors: "from the Latin conclava, meaning an apartment or parlour, and refers to the network of excavated chambers connected by corridors in timber samples from which this species was collected." Investigation of this word shows that 'conclaves' are closed (locked) rooms such as those that occur when a new pope is chosen. This word is a noun, perhaps plural, and thus an unchanging noun in apposition. It does not help in deciding the gender of the genus which is not given by Borda et al [details]
