In this work, the sabellid Desdemona ornata Banse, 1957 is mentioned and described for the first time for the European atlantic coasts and the Iberian Peninsula. The specimens have been collected in organically enriched sediments, which are situated in an estuary and in a marine harbour environment. This detail seems to confirm the Consideration of D. ornata as an opportunistic species, the geografical expansion of which is linked to the marine transport.
