Steiner (1919, p. 182) was aware of the at that time unpublished monograph of Zelinka and mentioned: "Dem Echinodere spinosus, der nun Centropsis spinosus heißen dürfte, fehlen die langen Seitenborsten in der Mitte des Endringes." [The Echinoderes spinosus, which should now probably be called Centropsis spinosus, lacks the long lateral terminal spines in the middle of the terminal ring.] In this way he inadvertently provided a new recombination of names.
