Williams & Bunkley-Williams (1996) list Apocreadium misakiense (p. 299) as a parasite of Scomber japonicus. This species is apparently based on Lepocreadium misakiense Shimazu, 1986, which was described by Shimazu (1986), from S. japonicus in Japanese waters. The transfer to Apocreadium appears to have been an unintended mistake, as this species has a clear cirrus-sac and no particular affinity with the Apocreadiidae.
