Taxonomy Donald (1900:50) discussed 5 specimens of Turritella runcinata Watson, 1881 (= Colpospira rincinata (Watson, 1881)) which she examined in Hamburg and which originate from the Museum Godeffroy, and were named Murchisonia sutoris in manuscript by Dunker [1874 auct] (replacement name for Torcula tenuilirata Dunker in Schmeltz, 1869).
Iredale (1924:249) subsequently added detail and correction to Donald's explications, and cleared out the relation between tenuilirata and sutoris.
Garrard (1972:277) picked up on Donald's discussion, and added both Torcula tennilirara [sic] as well as Murchisonia sutoris to the synonymy of Colpospira (Colpospira) runcinata (Watson, 1881).
Neither one of the names proposed by Dunker are available under Art. 12, and can as such not be used as senior synonyms and thus remain nomina nuda. [details]
Iredale (1924:249) subsequently added detail and correction to Donald's explications, and cleared out the relation between tenuilirata and sutoris.
