Status This family-level taxon is based on a very poorly known taxon of urechinid echinoids. The type-genus Carnarechinus Mironov, 1978 is known from fragments only and full morphology is unknown. Its relation to other urechinids is unclear, but preliminary molecular data (Petrov et al. 2012; tree shown in Mironov et al. 2013: fig. 3B) indicate that it is a basal member of the clade. [details]
