Biology several specimens were externally parasitised by the copepod Melinnacheres terebellinis (Levinsen 1878). Images of parasites and hosts are given in figure 1. "male copepods also exhibit reduced morphology and are minute dwarfs attached to the female genital area. The female M. terebellidis has an oblong body shape up to 4 mm long, tapering anteriorly and always attaches to the anterior dorsum of its host."
