Clypeasteroids
Clypeasteroida (apical systems)
Description
Left: The apical system includes presumably only genital plate G2 and very small terminal plates (Clypeaster australasiae). Right: The hydropores lie in a distinct furrow (Laganum laganum). In some groups there are four gonopores, the posterior one being absent. Sometimes the apical disc is star-shaped and the gonopores have shifted into the interambulacra.
