Aglaophenia octodonta
Aglaophenia octodonta
Description Colony of Aglaophenia octodonta (Heller, 1868) (Leptomedusae, Aglaopheniidae). The height is about 2 cm. It is is a common Mediterranean hydroid growing in rather shallow depths. The feathery (pinnate) colony form is one of the most conspicuous forms. When searching for hydroids, these are thus usually the first ones to be discovered . The brown bodies on the stems are the corbulae, organs of reproduction. Author Schuchert, Peter JPG file - 110.00 kB - 378 x 500 pixels added on 2006-12-214 705 views © 2006 Schuchert, Peter
