Bathydevius caudactylus Robison & Haddock, 2024
Description A mystery mollusc (Bathydevius caudactylus) observed by MBARI’s remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Doc Ricketts offshore of Central California at a depth of approximately 1,660 meters. The mystery mollusc lives in the midnight zone and has unique adaptations to survive in an environment of frigid temperatures, inky darkness, and crushing pressure.
