Saleniidae (ambulacral plates)
Description Ambulacral plates of Saleniids. Left: Salenocidaris (S. miliaris): Unigeminate plates (one shaded). Only near the peristome (below) occur a few bigeminate plates (lower shaded plate). Right: Bathysalenia (B. goesiana): In this more advanced genus the plates are bigminate = one tubercle per compound plate and two pore-pairs throughout (sample plates shaded).
