Description A: Axial, very slightly oblique centred section (sample IR 15–031, fig. 6e of Consorti et al. 2014; upper Albian of the Iberian Ranges). Note that the canal system is encompassing. B-C: Axial, non-centred section (B: sample IR 15–01, late Albian of the Iberian Ranges, C: sample To 28–11, F: sample Tz, uppermost Albian, Bascocantabrian Basin, northern Spain). Note that sections of the tubular chamber (deuteroloculus) are ovate, slightly appressed and that a thin wall clearly separates the tubular chamber from the canal system (e.g. see enlargement in B2). D: Oblique section (D: sample IR 15–01, H: sample IR 15–031, late Albian of the Iberian Ranges), showing a thin opening between the tubular chamber (deuteroloculus) and the comprehensive canal system (but no alar prolongations). E: Subequatorial, non-centred section (E: sample OV-609, late Albian of the Cantabrian Mountains. Abbreviations: c.s. = canal system, d. = deuteroloculus (tubular chamber), o. = opening of the tubular chamber on the encompassing canal system.
