Expertise
I have been the editor for the cnidarian orders Actiniaria (sea anemones) and Corallimorpharia (corallimorphs) since 2011 and am co-author on the new WoRMS “World List for Actiniaria.” I serve as an editor for Zootaxa and for the Bulletin of the Society of Systematic Biology and am the curator of Invertebrates for the Ohio State University Museum of Biological Diversity. Through my research on sea anemones, I have described taxa, reconstructed phylogeny, revised the higher-level classification, and studied key biological systems. I have advised graduate students studying other lineages, including Mollusks and Crustacea. I am interested in leveraging the WoRMS infrastructure and expertise to enable and increase research on marine invertebrates by increasing the kinds of information within the database (e.g., geographic records, museum records, images, trait data, taxonomic literature) and finding ways to connect to non-taxonomic research communities who may be users or contributors of those data.
